Bungie hires Destiny subreddit creator

The man who created the subreddit dedicated to online shooter Destiny has been hired by developer Bungie as a community manager.

It’s my honour to be the latest player plucked from the community to assist in its management,” Chris ‘Cozmo23′ Shannon said. I now aim to better serve the larger Destiny community alongside those who create and maintain the game.

My job is to be your voice, or at the very least your interpreter, filtering the firehose of information on Bungie.net – as well as on social media. I’ll also be empowering all of you to keep creating the great community content that we all enjoyed throughout year one.

My roots in the Bungie community run deep. I’m a product of the Halo generation, born from late night LAN parties and moulded by the brutalities of online competition. In Destiny, it’s been my experience that the only thing better than beating a Raid are the people in your Fireteam. I’ve met so many amazing people in this community and look forward to meeting more every day.”

Fellow Bungie community bod David ‘DeeJ’ Dague said the hire will help the studio do a better job of listening and responding to feedback and concern, something that has proved challenging with the resources available up to now.

The Destiny Community is a thriving population of impassioned people… the fact of the matter is that there are too many of you for me to handle alone,” he added.

Bungie.net is visited by millions of unique visitors. Our forum is a fountain of feedback, insights, and creativity. When it comes to acknowledging the important things you say or celebrating the awesome things you do, we barely scratch the surface. And that’s just on our website. We all know that the Destiny Community sprawls well beyond the friendly confines of Bungie.net.

As always, when we’re faced with a challenge, we look to the community for inspiration. Cozmo and I will operate as a team. I’m not going anywhere. We’re having too much fun.”
