Call of Duty 4 fights on in chart battle

Many had thought that normal services had resumed last week with EA’s FIFA 08 clambering back to the top of the charts, but it’s Activision’s Call of Duty 4 that conquers all this week by claiming number one in ChartTrack All Formats Top 40.

It’s the third time that Infinity Ward’s celebrated next-gen shooter has reigned in the UK listings, and it prevails this week despite a 21 per cent drop in sales.

FIFA 08 falls just one spot to second this week, one place ahead of Ubisoft’s ongoing success story Assassin’s Creed. EA’s The Simpsons Game also maintains its top five spot, residing in fourth whilst Activision’s Guitar Hero III also continues to sell well, snatching fifth position.

Elsewhere in the Top 40, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 threatens to re-enter the Top Ten, climbing to 11th, whilst Nintendo’s Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree surges from 25th to 14th.

Titles re-entering the Top 40 include The Orange Box in 35th, Super Paper Mario at number 37 and Sega Rally at 40.
