Next Generation reports that Infinity Ward, the game’s original developer, will be back at the helm for the latest instalment after previously handing over the reigns to Treyarch for Call of Duty 3.
Activision will be unveiling the game to the UK press at a Central London event next Monday.
Interestingly, the Modern Warfare element of the game’s title suggests that the series may be abandoning its traditional World War II setting in favour of something more contemporary, as has been previously suggested by online rumour-mongers.
The release date or supported platforms are not yet known, though last year’s Call of Duty 3 was the first game in the series to ditch PC and become a console-only title.
