Capcom introduces Smurfs DLC cap

Players of Capcom’s hit iOS title Smurf’s Village will, once having installed the latest update, find that the game has introduced a cap on the game’s micro-transactions.

From this point on the game will limit users to five in-game purchases every 15 minutes.

PocketGamer reports that the move has been made following pressure from Apple. It had grown tired of the number of complaints it was receiving from users who had unwittingly spent a fortune on in-app payments.

Apple had already implemented changes that forced users to input their iTunes password with every purchase.

The two companies first clashed on the subject in February, when Apple was said to have issued Capcom with what was described as a severe warning. These claims were quickly denied by Capcom, however.

At the end of February 2011 the game passed the 10m download barrier.
