CD Projekt Red ditching DRM

CD Projekt Red, developer of the hit RPG series The Witcher, has revealed the company will no longer rely on DRM for any of their future titles.

Speaking at GDC last week in San Francisco, CEOMarcin Iwinski stated that the studio wouldn’t go the route again because it both complicates things and "does not protect your game."

Iwinski claims the SecuROM laced retail version of The Witcher 2 was cracked a couple of hours after launch, despiteGOG.com offering upa version of the game free of the software.

As for making things complicated, Iwiniski is likely referring to the resoundingly negative reaction from customers who describe the type of rights management as invasive, and claim that it only encumbers paying players—as opposed to keeping out pirates like it’s supposed to.
