‘CES can offer game giants an audience that E3 cannot’

The biggest names in games are returning to CES to show off products to the ‘entire tech ecosystem,’ says the event’s organisers.

The Consumer Electronics Show used to be a home for the games industry before the launch of E3 in 1995. But this year saw more video game companies than ever take to the show to announce new products – including Valve and its Steam Machines and PlayStation, which unveiled its PlayStation Now cloud gaming initiative.

One of the major strengths of the International CES is that it showcases the entire tech ecosystem, from mobile and apps to hardware and software, rather than just one specific segment,” a CES spokesperson told MCV.

This makes launching products at CES a compelling move for gaming companies, particularly those that want to meet with the range of tech media, VCs, buyers, distributors and investors.

There are other strong gaming events but none that offer the entire spectrum of the tech industry that the international CES does.”
