Cities: Skylines coming to Xbox One this spring

Management sim Cities: Skylines is coming to Xbox One later this year, Paradox Interactive has announced. The game will launch this spring and will also include the original’s first expansion, Cities: Skylines – After Dark.

Cities: Skylines – Xbox One Edition is being ported by Tantalus Media (previously responsible for the HD remaster of Nintendo’s Twilight Princess for Wii U), and will be completely optimised for playing on a controller, says Paradox.

"Paradox is a company that’s proud to publish and support ‘niche’ games, and we’re happy to be able to bring those specialized experiences to console as well.” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive.

Cities: Skylineshas built one of the biggest and most active communities we’ve seen among Paradox’s fans, and that’s saying a lot. We can’t wait to welcome Xbox One players into that group, and I’m eager to see the towns and cities they can build.”

Cities: Skylines was one of Paradox’s highest-performing titles in Q4 2016, making up a significant part of its Q4 revenue alongside titles includingStellaris, Hearts of Iron IV, Europa Universalis IV and Tyranny. The title also sold over 2m units in its first year worldwide, after it originally launched on PC, Mac and Linux in March 2015.

The After Dark expansion adds a day and night cycle to allow players to experience their city’s nightlife, as well as create policies and zones for popular hotspots.

MCV also spoke to Wester last year about Cities: Skylines, Stellaris as well as it’s record-breaking year in 2015. "Our ambition is always to grow and to make better games,” Wester said at the time. We are looking to expand within the genres where we are currently active and hopefully develop new cool services for our fans.”
