Clair Porteous named head of Entertainment at Future

Future Publishing has named Clair Porteous as head of its Entertainment group.

She replaces Simon Maxwell, who left to join Eurogamer in August.

Porteous has been holding down the role on a interim basis since his departure. She will now take control of Future’s entire games and film portfolio.

Prior to her new role, she works as head of digital development for the Entertainment Group, and has also worked as the publisher of Future’s Film brands. Before Future, Porteous was publisher of Nuts at IP Media and head of marketing for the firm’s men’s lifestyle brands, which included Nuts, Loaded and Mousebreaker.com.

In her new role she will report to Future’s Group publishing director for technology and entertainment, Nial Ferguson.

The growth of the Entertainment Group is crucial as we continue our development as a borderless, digital business," said Ferguson.

"Clair’s drive and desire to accelerate the growth plans made her the perfect candidate to lead the strong Entertainment management team through the next phase of the portfolio’s evolution."

Porteous added: Digital acceleration is at the heart of Future’s strategy for its thriving Entertainment brands. The strength of our pillar brands means we’re building on extremely solid foundations. And – as the last year has shown us – there is tremendous growth potential in the digital space for our games and film properties, online and on mobile devices like iPad.”
