Club Penguin embraces German market

Disney has today opened the digital doors to a fully localised version of its Club Penguin website for the German market.

It will be the fifth fully localised version of the site to be rolled out.

The launch of clubpenguin.de is part of our strategy to make Club Penguin even more social and accessible for all our players across multiple platforms,” Disney’s GM and VP of digital games for EMEA Jeff Jones stated.

German players will now be able to immerse themselves in all the fun virtual world and as we take engaging experiences mobile, in future players will also able to connect with Club Penguin safely, wherever they are.”

Club Penguin co-founder and executive VP of Disney Online Studios Lane Merrifield added: With the continued global expansion of Club Penguin, we are providing a fun and safe place for millions of kids to connect with one another around the world.

Club Penguin was founded by three fathers who wanted a fun environment for our kids to play online, and safety has been a foundation on which we built an immersive world where kids can play games and create their own unique experiences. I am extremely proud of our safety track record an area in which we continue to invest in daily.”

Club Penguin boasts over 150m registered users across 190 countries. It first went live in 2005 and now claims to offer the largest virtual world available for kids ages between six and 12.

The game is free-to-play but also has a number of premium membership options.
