The first iteration of Call of Duty: XP will be held in Los Angeles this September.
Activision announced the new event will be similar to Blizzcon, and will focus purely on the Call of Duty franchise and its community. The publisher will use COD: XP to officially unveil the multiplayer modes of Modern Warfare 3, as well as the full feature set for its new social network Call of Duty Elite.
The convention will last two days and feature a range of multiplayer competitions, including a $1m Black Ops tournament sponsored by Activision and Xbox 360. There will even be paintball matches on a life-size recreation of MW2 deathmatch map Scrapyard, and a version of the training pit from the same game.
Tickets will go on sale on July 19th, and are priced at $150. All proceeds will go to the Call of Duty Endowment, a charity set up to help soldiers transition to civilian careers after their military service.
Call of Duty: XP will be held from September 2nd to September 3rd. Activision expects more than 6,000 gamers to attend.
