Codemasters strikes GBP 5m deal with new media agency

Following a report by Marketing Week, Codemasters confirmed to MCV this morning that media agency Universal McCann will now be handling Codemasters’ planning and buying business in the UK, taking up the reins from predecessor MJ Media.

It is another major step for the Britsoft firm as it looks to ramp up its presence in the games market as Codemasters looks to take full advantage of its recent distribution deal with Warner, as revealed by MCV.

Universal McCann has a number of offices across Europe, including operations in France, Germany and in East Sussex, England. It has several super-high profile clients – including Coca Cola, Exxon Mobil, Intel, Microsoft, Sony and Mastercard.

Codemasters will be using its new media planning agency to push forthcoming titles including Colin McRae, TOCA, Maelstrom, Brian Lara Cricket, Heatseeker and its big-name MMO Lord of the Rings Online, set for launch on PC in March.
