Collectible AR cards the next big trick for Kid Icarus

Nintendo is to include a physical card-collecting element in upcoming 3DS title Kid Icarus: Uprising.

The game was amongst the first titles and IPs Nintendo confirmed for 3DS and was initially expected to be a launch title of the machine.

However, negative feedback about the game lead to a number of delays and strategic tweaks to the title – such as compatibility with the Circle Pad Pro and the surprise inclusion of a stand bundled with the game.

Now Siliconera reports that in addition to the random six augmented reality cards that come included with the game, there will in fact be hundreds” of these cards for gamers to collect.

There’s no word on how these cards will be sold or distributed, but Nintendo has announced its intention to hold special trading events for fans.

Kid Icarus: Uprising is due out on March 25th – almost exactly a year after the 3DS was launched in the UK.
