Crusader Kings 2: Rajas of India expansion to tackle Indian culture, religions

The upcoming expansion of Crusader Kings 2 – its sixth and one of its biggest – will see the game head east to India.

The expansion, due for release in March, brings jungle terrain to the game, and lets players align themselves to one of three religions – Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism, each with their own unique progression and events.

Here’s how Paradox describes the new expansion:

Dust off your jewelled turban and defend dharma as a mighty Indian Raja, conquering in the name of Indra! Raise war elephant units and fight in the dense jungle terrain. Make Siddhartha proud as a Buddhist and advance your technology or maintain a harmonious stable realm as a Jain. Raid your neighbours as a warlike Hindu of the Kshatriya caste!”

Rajas of India will also add a host of religious and cultural events, like celebrating Diwali, meeting yogis and sadhus, and performing tasks to appease ‘the ferocious goddess Kali’.

The new expansion will also encompass the concept on reincarnation, and while how that’ll work isn’t clear just yet, Karma will play a role in some way.

Most ofCrusader Kings 2 has so far been set in Europe and parts of Africa and the Middle East. A free patch released alongside Rajas of India will also see those get more populated so as to betterconnect India with the West.

According to Rock Paper Shotgun, Rajas of India will grow the world map by 50% and add nearly 400 new provinces.
