A sequel to THQ’s recently-released action title Darksiders is in the works after the publisher revealed that the game is “on track” to meet internal forecasts, selling 1.2m units since its release last month.
Earlier in the week analysts had claimed that the title had underperformed, selling well under 1m units since its release.
In addition, new instalments in the Red Faction and Saints Row series have also been confirmed.
“In fiscal 2011, we plan to ship two major core games, Homefront and a sequel to our Red Faction franchise,” CEO Brian Farrell told investors, as transcribed by Seeking Alpha.
“We also expect to see accelerated growth with three major core games titles scheduled, Warhammer 40000 Space Marine, a sequel to Darksiders, and the third generation of our popular Saints Row franchise. We also expect continued growth in our fighting, kids, family and casual businesses, as well as a significant growth in our digital business in fiscal 2012.”
The current quarter will see THQ release Russian-based FPS Metro 2033, a Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War expansion and racer MX vs. ATV Reflex.
