Dead Island 2 hinted at by trademark filing

It looks as if work is already underway on one of 2011’s surprise hits.

Siliconera reports that Dead Island developer Techland has filed a trademark for Dead World. It’s not hard to see where that line of thinking could potentially take the already very open and free-roaming franchise.

Dead Island spent two weeks at the top of the UK charts in September and shipped impressive numbers in the US.

It wasn’t a completely smooth launch, though – technical problems plagued the PC release and critics were vocal about the bugs and glitches that troubled the game.

None of which has stopped the IP becoming one of the big 2011 success stories, and the future looks to be brining even better news for the brand. A Dead Island film has already been confirmed.
