Demons Souls gets June release

Critically acclaimed Japanese RPG Demon’s Souls has been given a UK release date of June 25th and will be available only in a limited edition pack.

Namco Bandai will be publishing the game in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific following an agreement with Sony.

The limited edition European release of Demon’s Souls will include a CD soundtrack, artbook and strategy guide.

Namco Bandai VP of marketing, sales and publishing Olivier Comte said: We’re very pleased to be working with SCEI to bring the fantastic Demon’s Souls to gamers outside of Japan and North America.

It is exactly the kind of quality experience with which we are continuing to grow the Namco Bandai games portfolio of titles, and we will be working hard to ensure it’s at least as much of a success in our markets as it has already proven to be elsewhere.”

Demon’s Souls blends action, RPG and MMO-like online multiplayer features, and has been noted for its challenging difficulty curve.

The game received favourable reviews when it went on sale in the US in October last year, with an average score of 89 on aggregator website Metacritic. Gamespot awarded it its Game of the Year 2009 award.

Demon’s Souls sold three times as many copies than expected in North America. Sony previously said not releasing the game in the UK was a mistake”.
