Devolver swoops in to save GaymerX after NIS America withdraws funding

LGBT-focused video games convention GaymerX2 looks to have been saved by publisher Devolver Digital.

Joystiq reports that the event’s founder Matt Conn said that he felt awful and betrayed” after Disgaea and Atelier Iris publisher NIS America withdrew $3,000 of funding for the expo.

"We were already in dire straits, but we were really relying on this $3k to pay for our artists who came and to take care of some of the outstanding hotel bills,” he added. This just further puts a nail into our coffin if we don’t figure out a revenue stream very quickly."

However, Luftrausers and Hotline Miami publisher Devolver has now stepped in to make up for the cash shortfall, urging other companies to follow suit.

NIS America has separately stated that it is "trying to work with GaymerX so that we can resolve this issue as soon as possible".
