Driveclub is "going back to the drawing board"

Driveclub is

The wait for Driveclub could be a longer one than we’d expected.

Speaking to IGN, Sony Worldwide Studios America’s PlayStation software product development head Scott Rohde said: “What I will say is that it all comes back to that fundamental principle, and that’s that we want to build great games and we really don’t want to release a game before it’s ready.

“Sometimes, this happens in the normal course of business, where we think we’re on track to deliver what we think is going to be a great game, and when we get closer, we realise that we’d be doing everyone a disservice if we shipped it before it was ready.

“I think that at PlayStation, perhaps more than at other places, we’re willing to kinda eat that [cost] and go back to the drawing board and make sure the game is great before we ship it. And that’s what’s going on right now with that game.”

When pressed Rohde refused to commit to even a 2014 release for the game.

Driveclub was originally due to launch alongside PS4 in November but was delayed just weeks before the console’s arrival.

It then looked as if the game may get a fresh release date in January, although its omission from the Japanese launch line-up cast uncertainty over the assumption that the delay would indeed be a short one.
