DS Lite rockets Nintendo profits

Nintendo also confirmed that New Super Mario Bros has sold a total of 3.82 million units worldwide, while global sales of DS hardware reached 21.27 million units by the end of June – bolstered by the launch of DS Lite. Overall, Nintendo achieved Y131m net sales in April to June, compared with Y71m for the same period last year.

The company has subsequently revised its financial predictions, projecting full-year shipments of DS hardware upwards to 17 million from 16 million, while DS software shipment predictions shot up from 70 million to 75 million units. The amended recurring and net profit forecasts, if achieved, will represent record sales for Nintendo.
