DS takes the UK top spot

The successful launch of DS Lite earlier this year, plus the popularity of the Touch Generations games have contributed to the strong performance of the format, according to Nintendo. The company also revealed that in the five months following the arrival of DS Lite, combined weekly sales of both DS handhelds in the UK are outperforming rivals by a ratio of over 2.5:1.

“The ability of Nintendo DS to appeal to both gamers and non-gamers alike through an exciting, fun and innovative portfolio of software has been instrumental in its success in the UK,” said Nintendo’s UK general manager David Yarnton. “With many more Touch Generations games launching this year and into 2007, Nintendo DS will continue to be the main driving force behind the expansion of the video game market this year.”
