DTI tells Vaz ‘leave games alone’

Minister for Creative Industries and Tourism Shaun Woodward and Minister for Industry Margaret Hodge both told outspoken MP Vaz that they were happy with the current PEGI system of age ratings, and that no change in policy was necessary.

A spokesperson for the Department of Trade And Industry told MCV: “The meeting was set up at Mr Vaz’s request, and he was informed that a change in Government policy couldn’t come about because of one MP’s concerns.

“Margaret Hodge stated that the games industry had been very successful on the matter and that the current regime of self-regulation was working. She also made it very clear that she respected the steps the industry and PEGI had already made.”
