E for All organiser hails debut event as a success

The new consumer show at E3’s old stomping ground, E For All, has been declared a success by its organiser IDG – which has hinted at a greater focus on the trade for next year.

Last week’s event at the LA Convention Centre saw little in the way of industry announcements. But IDG CEO Mary Dolaher has told MCV that she was ‘delighted’ with the way that the separate strands of the event came together.

“The figures were right in line with our expectations, and are great numbers for a launch show,” said Dolaher. “With that said, we judge success of this event not just in terms of quantity, but in terms of quality; that is, the quality of the products shown, and the quality of the time that gamers get to test-drive them. We are delighted with the way all of these elements came together, and are looking forward to another great event in 2008.

“Overall, we thought all the elements of the event worked very well. We will certainly be talking to exhibitors and attendees over the coming weeks, and will make announcements about next year’s event in the months to come.”

Dolaher also stressed that the E For All event, while obviously focused upon gamers, can accommodate industry executives too.

“This event is for and about everyone in the game community, from hardcore gamers to families to industry professionals,” she added. “We expect to see the event grow and evolve next  year and over many years to come.”
