E3 2011: Mass Effect voice control is 360-only

The voice commands featured in Mass Effect 3 will only be available on the Xbox 360 version.

BioWare’s Casey Hudson, executive producer of Mass Effect, has said that BioWare is only bringing voice commands to Kinect because the device’s internal hardware is handling the voice recognition, according to Kotaku.

He goes on to explain that this is easier to develop voice commands with that other microphones. As a result, there will be no voice commands on the PS3 or PC editions of Mass Effect 3.

BioWare showed off the new Kinect functionality during Microsoft’s E3 press conference. Players will now be able to progress conversations by reading out their chosen response, as well as shout commands to their squad during battles.

Mass Effect 3 is due for release on March 6th, 2012.
