E3: Can Lowenstein save it?

The MCV Newsflash service broke a world exclusive on Friday night, as it emerged that crisis meetings were taking place with Entertainment Software Association president Doug Lowenstein and major games publishers such as Electronic Arts.

This was followed by a categoric report from US site www.next-gen.biz yesterday, claiming that exhibitors had confirmed directly that they would not attend next year.

A feeding frenzy amongst games websites has duly followed, which must surely cause the ESA to make a statement.

There has been speculation that a 'boutique-style' media event may carry the E3 name forward.

But until either a major exhibitor or Lowenstein makes a comment, nothing can be claimed to be totally accurate.
