The organisers of E3 Expo are restricting the number of media passes that will be given to online press this year based on site traffic.
Any web journalists, bloggers, and podcasters that apply for press attendance will only receive a pass if their site achieves at least 8,000 monthly unique impressions, according to Joystiq. The site will also need to have been operational for at least six months.
The E3 Media Team is using a range of traffic-monitoring websites, including Compete.com, xinureturns.com, Quantcast.com and Alexa to assess whether or not gaming portals have the required number of hits to receive a media pass.
Approved sites will receive an email detailing how many media passes they are entitled to and what options are open to them if they require more staff.
