EA accused of ModernWarfare3 domain hijinks

EA accused of ModernWarfare3 domain hijinks

In a move that perhaps kicks off what will be an intense six months of campaigning and rivalry, it has been discovered that the URL www.ModernWarfare3.com redirects to the homepage of rival game Battlefield.

The URL appears to have been registered anonymously, though some – such as Future site GamesRadar – are openly pointing the finger at Battlefield publisher EA.

Kotaku reckons that prior to the redirect the site contained an anti-Call of Duty video and the following text:

“Modern Warfare is crap. On November 8th, 2011, the most over-hyped first-person action series of all-time returns with the copy and paste sequel to the lackluster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

“Check out the E3 2011 gameplay demo featuring the Black Tuesday level for a look at the epic fail of the campaign. Pre-Order Call of Duty MW3 Today for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC to secure exclusive bonuses only available online for Modern Warfare 3 fanboys who don't know that Battlefield 3 is the better game.”

Something tells me that this is the kind of thing, EA and Battlefield would be above doing themselves, so I may as well say that a certain 'Unknown' loosely linked group of individuals may be accountable. Seeing as there have been a string of attacks against big names in the past few months, I doubt they'd make an exception for two of the biggest brands currently in the market.

ye I doubt EA would be so blatant. Still MW3 does look like more of the same and there really milking the series now.
I remember when its first started and it was medal of honor vs call of duty. Battlefield has always been a better game imo but il sure il check out mw3 to see.
Seems like new ideas are too risky for EA and activision these days, thank god for fan boys eh!

Agreed. I still love the orignal PSX MoH games. Each one evolved more than just the name, and the setting. But the thing about COD and Battlefield is one always does the crazy story with a mental twist and the other goes for the true war experience- making things as real as possible. I'll get both, but I'll no doubt drop COD after the story and a little attempt at MP, and head straight back to Battlefield.
