EA has struck a deal to publish Half-Life 2 on Xbox in the aftermath of VU Games’ dispute with developer Valve.
EA will also distribute a ‘game of the year’ edition on PC, which will include Half-Life 2, Counter Strike: Source, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and Half Life: Source.
Online delivery service Steam, the source of the legal wrangling between VU Games and Valve, will continue to distribute the title online. The Xbox title is expected to arrive in October. VU Games was the original publisher of the PC version.
"We consider Half-Life and Counter-Strike to be two of the best game franchises of all time," said vice president and general manager of EA Partners Tom Frisina, "We could not be more excited to have the opportunity to help deliver these outstanding games to players around the globe."
