EA CEO: Social market isn't dying, but consumers won't pay for crap

John Riccitiello isn’t listening to the noise surrounding social gaming’s impending demise – believing instead that companies are learning, and only need to make a few necessary adjustments for continued success.

Reported by AllThingsD, EA’s CEO spoke on the topic of social gaming’s apparent plunge over the past year.

“The companies that are now suffering will have another day,” Riccitiello said, adding that social game studios can adapt to the current challenges they face.

Riccitiello explains the biggest lesson that must be learned is that “consumers won’t pay for crap.”

The exec concluded that those struggling in the market must realize great gaming focuses on truly good entertainment, not viral marketing and spamming friends.
