EA hints at Euro price drop

Last week EA confirmed that it has cut prices on many of its titles in the US by between $10 and $20, dropping top games such as Madden NFL 06, FIFA 06 and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire from $39.99 to $29.99, whilst older titles such as Medal of Honor: European Assault were lowered to $19.99.

EA has so far denied that a similar strategy was planned for Europe (MCV 18/11). But speaking this week to MCV the firm clearly has not ruled it out.

“We are currently in transition,” EA’s UK sales director Mark Bradley told MCV. “EA sets wholesale prices, retailers set retail prices. Price reductions occur in the normal course of a title’s life. There may be fewer titles able to hold premium price points and the premium price points may not last as long.”
