EA in seventh heaven

As the overall software market drops 29 per cent in unit sales and 31 per cent in value week on week, EA’s The Sims 2 is Need for Speed’s closest competitor, leaping up two places to number two, bolstered by the release of the PSP version.

EA’s chart presence is made all the more impressive with FIFA ’06 claiming the number five spot and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire dropping to ninth place.

Meanwhile Konami’s chart veteran Pro Evolution Soccer 5 continues to put in a virtuoso performance in its 13th week on the chart, rising two places to number three, and Ubisoft’s King Kong drops two places to number four.

Rockstar’s PSP-only title GTA: Liberty City Stories manages to climb two places this week, as Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones drops from sixth to seventh.

Two titles make a return to the top ten - Sega’s Football Manager 2006 jumps up from 13th place to number eight, while THQ’s WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2006 climbs two places to claim the tenth spot.
