FIFA 11 will be the first game in the series to offer full 11 vs 11 online multiplayer thanks to a new feature that allows you to fully control goalkeepers.
Be A Goalkeeper mode has three levels of control – assisted, semi-assisted or fully manual. Skills that need to be learnt include one-on-one, free kicks saving and defending corners. Players will also be able to play as the keeper throughout the full 15 seasons of Career Mode.
Chelsea keeper Petr Čech has been drafted in to act as a spokesperson for the mode and will feature in its advertising, marketing and promotional activities.
“The phenomenal growth of online gaming and the desire of our fans to be able to play as the goalie was the driving force behind this innovation for FIFA 11,” FIFA’s executive producer Kaz Makita, stated.
“Friends can play alongside each other in their pro clubs with all 11 virtual players on the pitch human controlled. We have finally replicated football in the virtual world.”
The game is released in the UK and Europe on October 1st.
