EA pulling plug on Battlefield Heroes, FIFA World and other F2P titles

EA has announced it will drop support for free-to-play PC titles Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield Play4Free, FIFA World and Need for Speed World.

A post on the EA Blog reveals the company will shut down servers on July 15th, with the explanation being that the games are not as popular as they once were.”

These games will be live for another 90 days, after which they will go offline,” the publisher states.

In more than five years since most of these titles launched, how we play games has changed dramatically. These were pioneering experiences, and we’re humbled that, over the years, so many of you joined us to enjoy the games and the community.”

EA added that the now free-to-play Star Wars: The Old Republic continues to have an enthusiastic and growing community.”
