Sales of additional digital content could reach as much as $1bn for EA in the current financial year.
That’s according to Bloomberg, which quotes Longbow Research analyst as saying that “the margins on Madden Ultimate Team are through the roof”. Revenue from madden DLC grew 350 per cent for the quarter ending June 30th.
Added EA’s Madden general manager Cam Weber: “People are playing the game all year round. We’ve seen huge increases in overall engagement and usage even after the NFL season is over.”
EA’s most recent financial report cited an 80 per cent year-on-year improvement in FIFA Ultimate Team revenues and company wide profits increase of over 50 per cent.
