Those who pre-order Battlefield 3 will not have a day one advantage over those who do not, EA has said.
The comments come in response to a campaign on Reddit that is encouraging consumers to boycott the game owing to what it claims is the unfair advantage handed to those who receive extra content for pre-ordering the game.
"We believe in rewarding our core fanbase with special offers such as giving them the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge," a statement on the Battlefield blog reads.
"The three exclusive items in the Physical Warfare Pack were specifically chosen not to be overpowered or imbalance or break the game in any way. Owning these items will give you a more varied arsenal, but it will not give you a significant advantage on the battlefield."
The DLC will be available to everyone, though no date or price has yet been confirmed.
Battlefield 3 will be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on October 25th.
