EA swoops for Jamdat

The deal is worth a staggering $680 million and means that EA will assume control of the LA-headquartered mobile specialist, which has around 350 employees in locations across the world.

“This is an important strategic acquisition for Electronic Arts,” said EA boss Larry Probst. “Together we intend to build a leading global position in the rapidly growing business of providing games on mobile phones.”

Jamdat chairman and CEO Mitch Lasky said of the deal: “The combination of EA and EA Sports, along with jamdat’s casual blockbusters like Tetris, Bejeweled and Jamdat Bowling, will create a powerful product line-up."
