EA to hold ‘Football Shirt Friday’ fundraising event for Bobby Moore Fund

FIFA creator EA is to support the bowel cancer charity of footballing great Bobby Moore next Friday.

Following the addition of the former West Ham and England captain to FIFA 15’s Ultimate Team game mode, staff at EA are to hold a number of fundraising efforts for his eponymous Bobby Moore Fund.

The fund was established in 1993 by Moore’s widow, Stephanie Moore, following Bobby’s death that same year from bowel and liver cancer.

Stephanie visited EA’s UK office in Guildford at the start of April, kicking off a month-long effort dubbed ‘Bowel Cancer Awareness Month’.

She said: "There are many great ways to raise money, and I hope many more businesses will be encouraged to take part this year to help us beat bowel cancer sooner."

Next Friday, April 17th, will see EA hold a ‘Football Shirt Friday’, with employees encouraged to don their favourite team’s colours and donate at least 2 to the Fund. Raffles, cake and football kit sales will also contribute to the fundraising.

There will additionally be a FIFA 15 Ultimate Team Legends tournament among staff, seeing a showdown between Moore and Brazilian football legend Pel in honour of their 1970 World Cup rivalry.

More details about the fundraising can be found at www.footballshirtfriday.org.
