EA tops first Develop 100

06 May 2005 by Dave Roberts
EA Canada has topped the first ever Develop 100, fighting off competition from Rockstar North.

Develop 100 is a new project from MCV publisher Intent Media. Spun out of sister title Develop, it lists the world’s leading studios according to the revenues generated by their products at retail.

There were a total of four EA-owned studios in the top 10, and three representatives from the UK – Rockstar North, London Studios (SCEE) and Codemasters. The highest placed independent studio was Canada’s Radical Entertainment at number 12.

Editor Owain Bennallack offered:“Develop 100 is a first attempt to rank development outfits according to performance where it ultimately counts – in the shops. Here we see which developers brought home the bacon - and who might have been exaggerating their prowess, if not telling porkies.”

Develop 100, which is sponsored by Deep Silver, is bundled with all non-retail copies of this week’s MCV.
