Edge boss leaves ahead of Future games restructure

Richard Keith, the publisher of Edge, PC Gamer and Xbox 360: The Official Magazine, is leaving Future.

It comes ahead of what will be a ‘review of the publishing structure’ at Future’s games division.

The news follows a drop in revenue for Future as revealed in its last financial statement. The company specifically blamed the games market for its drop in performance.

Keith first joined Future in 2001, and became editor of the firm’s Official PlayStation and Windows magazines. He was promoted to publisher in 2006, a role he held until 2010.

He then left Future in 2010 to set up his own business, indie media site The Games Tribe. But he rejoined the publishing giant in January 2012.

Future’s Head of Entertainment Clair Porteous said: Rich has been a driving force behind Edge, PC Gamer and Xbox 360: The Official Magazine, and he leaves them all in great shape," said Future’s head of entertainment Clair Porteous.

"He’s a much respected member of the games industry – he’ll be missed by those who worked with him at Future, but we wish him all the very best for the future.

Rich’s departure provides a great opportunity to look at the publishing structure of the Games division and we’ll be taking time now to make sure the shape of the publishing team best reflects the needs of the industry moving forward.”

Keith added: It’s been an absolute pleasure to take these iconic games brand forward with such fantastic teams. I’m leaving them in great shape and in very capable hands.”

Keith will leave Future at the end of the week.
