Eidos in takeover talks

Eidos parent SCi Entertainment is reportedly in takeover talks once again – with Ubisoft and Electronic Arts.

According to The Daily Mail, a source said discussions are at an ‘early stage’ – and that SCi has received approaches from two separate firms within the past few weeks.

The newspaper has fingered both Electronic Arts and Ubisoft as making bids for the company.

It follows another troubled year for SCi, in which its losses have quadrupled and the share price has slumped 92 per cent.

From a peak of 1billion at the height of the dotcom boom it is worth just 50million today.

However, it’s not the first time EA or Ubisoft have been singled out for interest in SCi – rumours which have previously come to nothing.

SCi Entertainment and Ubisoft did not wish to comment when approached by MCV.

MCV has also approached EA for further comment.
