Elite UK journos form UK digital games site

Four popular UK’s games journalists have co-founded a new website dedicated to digital games: Hookshot Inc.

Christian Donlan, Simon Parkin, Will Porter and Keith Stuart have decades of experience between them, with work published in Edge, Eurogamer, Gamasutra, The Guardian, Official PlayStation Magazine, PC Zone, PC Gamer, Rock Paper Shotgun and more.

Donlan won Best Specialist Writer – Online at last year’s Games Media Awards, while Porter and Stuart have picked up awards for PC Zone and The Guardian respectively.

Hookshot Inc launches today and reports on digitally distributed titles priced at under $15 each. It covers games on consoles, handhelds, smartphones, tablets and PC, including browser and Facebook games.

Keeping track of the very best downloadable titles on multiple platforms can be a challenge,” said Porter. We want to help separate the signal from the noise. There are countless downloadable games being created by companies big and small, and we want to single out the ones that truly deserve the attention of busy people with hectic lives.”

Stuart added: "Each of us has been working in the games industry for the best part of a decade or more. We thought it was high time to get together, pool our resources and create our own platform that would attract like-minded gamers."

Donlan said: "It’s something we’ve wanted to do for ages. We had to give it a try, even if it turns out to be another humiliating disaster."

Parkin concluded: "8/10".
