ELSPA to ‘address’ Cameron comments with Tories

The Entertainment & Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) is to meet with the Conservative Party – where it says it will “address” comments made by David Cameron this week.

ELSPA will meet with Shadow Secretary for Culture Jeremy Hunt in October – whom MCV interviewed on his plans for the games industry last week.

The body also plans to discuss other issues, which are likely to include the question of state funding for UK development studios and Government-endorsed IP protection.

Speaking after Cameron called for curbs on the release of violent games, ELSPA director general Paul Jackson told MCV:

“Summer is well known for mixed and confusing political messages. Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Jeremy Hunt MP showed a good understanding of the threats to our industry as published in MCV on August 17th. David Cameron’s comments require clarification.

“We look forward to our pre-arranged meeting with Jeremy Hunt in October where we will address this and other issues.”
