Five live eSports events are to be shown by over 1,500 cinemas as part of ESL’s ‘eSports in Cinemas’ series.
The tournament organiser is to kick off eSports in Cinemas with a documentary entitled All Work All Play: The Pursuit of eSports Glory by Patrick Creadon. It will feature a number of top names from the eSports scene and offer an insight into the workings of ESL’s Intel Extreme Masters.
The eSports streams, produced in conjunction with live-cinema specialists BY Experience, will also offer a number of extra features such as live Q&As with players and assorted exclusive content.
“I think this documentary and the broader partnership is symbolic of how far we’ve come,” ESL MD Ralf Reichert said. “When we started out, I dreamt about us filling stadiums, but I never entertained the idea of filling cinemas.
“Everyone who works with Intel Extreme Masters here at ESL is passionate about eSports and I think this documentary and the development of eSports series programming in cinemas is a testament to that growth. I’m very excited to see eSports in cinemas for years to come.”
All Work All play: The Pursuit of eSports Glory will be shown in Europe from July 28th. The first live eSports event will take place in August and cover the Dota 2 and Counter-Strike action from ESL One Cologne 2015. Four other events will follow at a later date.
