Exploding Kittens ready to ignite on iOS

Record-breaking Kickstarter card game Exploding Kittens is about to make its video game bow.

Tomorrow (Thursday January 21st) will see the release of Exploding Kittens on iOS. The title, developed by Seattle’s Substantial in conjunction with original creator Matthew Inman, will cost $1.99 in the US.

Cosmetic microtransactions will also be offered.

Exploding Kittens was an instant hit on Kickstarter following the launch of its campaign a year ago, hitting its initial funding target of $10k in just 20 minutes. After two days it had already become the 22nd most funded Kickstarter ever, and the highest funding card game.

The success didn’t stop there. A week later it had set a new backer record with over 114k backers. By the time funding closed in February it had raised an absolutely staggering $8,782,571 (from 219k backers), beating Ouya to the title of the highest funded ever games project.

The game was co-created by former Xbox chief design officer Elan Lee and former Xbox Entertainment principle art director Shane Small.
