Facebook and Twitter apps pulled from Xbox Live

Microsoft has removed the dedicated Facebook and Twitter apps from the Xbox 360 marketplace.

The apps are no longer available to download for all users who have updated to the latest Xbox 360 dashboard update, which has already begun rolling out to users.

The Verge reports that multiple sources familiar with Microsoft’s Xbox plans” suggest the move is designed to encourage use of the new Xbox browser that comes as part of said update.

Users who already had the apps installed are free to continue using them.

The dashboard update is slowly being pushed out to console owners right now, though it will likely take until next week before all users are prompted to download it.
