Far Cry 5 headed to Montana, official reveal dated for May 26th

Ubisoft has confirmed the next instalment in the Far Cry series will be headed to Hope County, Montana, and that the official worldwide reveal will be happening this Friday on May 26th.

Far Cry 5 was officially confirmed last week during Ubisoft’s latest financial results, and will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC at some point before the end of the next fiscal year (March 2018). However, rumours have been swirling around the game’s location ever since the beginning of May, with many speculating the series would be heading into wild west territory to take on Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2.

However, judging by Ubisoft’s quartet of teaser vignettes, also released today and which you can view below, it’s not exactly clear what kind of time period Ubisoft’s going for here. While the end music has a distinct western twang, at least two of the videos look like they take place in the present day. The others are a little more ambiguous, with brief glimpses of period clothing hinting it might be set much earlier, but no doubt all will be revealed this Friday.

The exact time of the reveal has yet to be confirmed, but we’ll update this article with more information as soon as we have it.

Ubisoft also confirmed the existence of a new Assassin’s Creed game in its fiscal earnings report last week, as well as The Crew 2 and a brand-new IP, which we’ll presumably hear more about at this year’s E3, unless, of course, the publisher decides to announce it early in another worldwide reveal event. Stay tuned…
