Force strengthens grip on retail

24 May 2005 By Neil Long

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith maintains its Darth Vader-like stranglehold over retail – claiming the top spot for the third week running in the official ELSPA all formats charts.

Very little has changed in the rest of the top ten, with Championship Manager 5 leapfrogging Forza Motorsport to claim the runner-up spot, and LEGO Star Wars, SingStar Popworld and Gran Turismo 4 each remaining at four, seven and eight respectively for the second week running.

Top ten stalwart FIFA Street swaps places with Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition, climbing one place to number five. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Guild Wars also rise one place following World Snooker Championship 2005’s failure to hold a top ten spot after its debut last week at number nine.

The absence of new entries is sure to end in the coming weeks with big releases Alien Hominid, WWE Wrestlemania XXI and S.C.A.R. looking to make an impact in the top ten.
