Former CBS exec joins Microsoft to develop original Xbox content

Former CBS Television Studios president Nancy Tellem has joined Microsoft to develop original content for the Xbox brand.

Tellem will work to create content as Entertainment & Digital Media president, heading up a new LA-based production studio.

The move doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, with rumours swirling around since last year that Microsoft was seeking a television executive to aid in its plans to transform the Xbox hardware into a full family room entertainment system.

The Xbox is already a consumer favorite, and we now have a tremendous opportunity to transform it into the center of all things entertainment — from games, music and fitness to news, sports, live events, television series and movies — so consumers have one destination for all their entertainment needs,” Tellem said in Microsoft’s announcement.
