Future announces Golden Joysticks shortlist

The shortlist for the 2011 GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards has now gone live.

Consumers can now vote for their favourites in all 14 public categories at the event’s official website, and doing so will automatically enter them into a special prize draw.

The 2011 shortlist has been selected by a panel of Future’s gaming experts, chaired by GamesMaster editor-in-chief Robin Alway. Catergories include One To Watch and Ultimate Game Of The Year.

Potential winners in One To Watch include Halo 4, Mass Effect 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops, L.A. Noire and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood are all in line for Ultimate Game Of The Year.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony, which will take place on Friday, October 21st at the Westminster Bridge Park plaza.

"The combination of 1.5 million votes last year and an outstanding 12 months for games meant the pressure was really on when it came to picking the shortlist for the Golden Joysticks," said Alway.

"But while that was difficult, voting is easier than ever and we want every gamer to have their say.

"The shortlist features huge sequels living up to the hype, new IP establishing itself, and incredible innovation and creativity wherever you look. There could be some major upsets when the winners are announced."
