Specialist giant GAME has acquired French games retailer Addon for E6.2m, as part of the firm's ongoing European expansion programme.
The deal provides GAME with 10 leasehold properties worth E2m and an additional 10 franchise stores, bringing the firm’s total store portfolio in France to 88, with over 650 in Europe as a whole.
“This acquisition gives further momentum to our European expansion strategy, and ensures that we will have over 100 owned stores trading in France for the key Christmas trading period,” commented GAME chief executive Martin Long.
“The acquired business has an existing customer base in locations where GAME is not currently well represented.
“As we move towards the launch of the new handhelds and console technologies, the acquisition demonstrates our ongoing commitment to strengthen our market leading position within Europe.”
