GAME issues volcano warning

Publishers are remaining defiant, but the channel has once again warned that the ongoing disruption caused by the Icelandic volcano could result in troubles at UK games retail.

The likes of EA, Nintendo and Sony told MCV earlier that key releases such as 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, Wario Ware DIY and God of War Collection are still on track to hit their April 30th release date.

However, distributors have admitted that the channel is experiencing a certain level of disruption as backlogs at European ports mount under the strain of increased footfall of those unable to take to the skies.

Now leading games retail GAME has issued the following warning to its customers on its website:

Please be aware the closure of UK airspace in parts of Europe unfortunately continues to affect the transport of mail by air and could cause delays with delivery of orders. This is impacting upon some UK domestic mail and mail due to either leave or enter the country via UK airports.”
